My art has been shaped by my unusual upbringing. My parents were creative and nomadic spirits and our family roamed the southwest in an old style "woody" camp trailer sometimes living in the open air desert for weeks at a time. Dad would draw and paint while on the road and display his art on a clothesline for passersby to purchase. Later, we moved to a small rural community in the Oregon coast range where we children were free to explore the forest, fields, creeks and rivers for days at a time.
This connection to the out of doors and the ability to closely observe and viscerally connect with the color, form, texture and movement in my environment has remained with me and is the underpinning of my painting.
